Happy Friday Bulldog Country It’s crazy to think that the month of June will come to a close this weekend and Monday marks the beginning of July. Where has the time gone? Despite school being out for the summer, GES staff are busy at work preparing for the 2024-25 school year. Here is the ‘summer scoop’ on the latest GES news making waves this season.
Online Student Registration
Once again this year, we will be conducting student registration online. No more stacks of paper or waiting in line. We have decided to roll out registration a little earlier than originally anticipated. On Monday, July 8, an email will be pushed out to families with instructions for getting GES students registered. This process should only take a few minutes to complete. The student registration window will be open from July 8-August 2.
Open House
In partnership with the PTA, we are once again adding a little fun to Open House this year. We call it Bulldogpalooza. Bulldogpalooza is an engaging and festive open house event organized by a school that proudly identifies with the Bulldog as its mascot. Families are scheduled to attend on Monday, August 12, as follows: 6:00-6:20 A-D; 6:20-6:40 E-H; 6:40-7:00 I-P; 7:00-7:20 Q-Z. Throughout the event, there will be games, snacks, drinks, and music in the cafeteria compliments of the PTA.
School Supply Kits
For those that ordered a school supply kit, we expect delivery the first week in August. We will notify families when the kits are available for pickup. Click here to access the school supply list. Parents of 5th/6th grade students, please hold off on purchasing the novels for the 2024-25 school year. As our new 5/6 ELA teacher, Mrs. Vides, will be making adjustments to the curriculum as she sees fit. This means, it is possible the novels included on the school supply list may change. Once a decision is made on what books the students will be reading, we will share the information with you.
Extra-Curricular Vacancies
I am pleased to share that we have filled two of our extra-curricular vacancies. Joining the GES coaching ranks are Andrea Toennies and Kayla Rutz. Andrea will serve as our 5/6 volleyball coach for the 2024-25 school year while Kayla will slide into the lane of bowling coach. We thank them for their willingness to lead our student athletes.
The following extra-curricular positions are still available for the 2024-25 school year.
Cheer Coach: Practices typically start in late August/early September. Regular season starts in October and runs through the middle of January. Post-season begins in late January. Most games are held on weekdays and start at 6:00.
Scholar Bowl Coach: Practices typically start in late November. There are 2 Saturday tournaments. The first one is held at Mater Dei High School in early February followed by a tournament at Central High School in late February/early March. The Regional Office of Education also hosts a tournament in late March. Practice matches may also be set up at the coach’s discretion.

This ‘party’ includes performances by the Cheers Band, Taco Truck, Joe Dirt, Head East, and Vince Neil. The gates will open at 3:00 with music playing all afternoon and evening.
